A Reasonable Approach
A reasonable HOA approach to property maintenance covenants regulations involves
clearly defining expectations for exterior property upkeep, focusing on maintaining the
overall aesthetics of the community, with a balanced enforcement strategy that
prioritizes communication and addresses issues proactively rather than solely relying on
fines and other enforcement actions.
- At Belmont, we take a reasonable approach.
- Staff is not “picky”. No one is running around with a ruler or tape measurer to measure
things, with an eye to make sure that everything on your property is perfect. - When there is a property maintenance covenants violation, we don’t just give you a citation
and fine you. - We communicate with you and give you the opportunity to fix the problem.
- Management understands that when they send a violation notice, it’s strictly business, but
for you, the homeowner, it is personal. They want you to know that you are not considered
to be a “problem” homeowner, just because there is some sort of violation on your property. - After all, we are all neighbors, and from time to time, any one of us may have to deal with a
covenant violation. - Even though staff can and will enforce compliance, they would prefer not to have to take
things to the next level. They hope that you will cooperate and fix the problem within a
reasonable time-period.
If you receive a violations citation, and you have questions, disagree
with the notice’s findings, or just need a bit of guidance, call the
association office. The number is (703)723-8300. Our staff is ready,
willing, and able to provide you with advice and guidance.
